Leah Bobet's "The Girl From Another World": What is it about!!!

I just cannot make head or tail of this story. Full text is available here.

A 30 year old waitress, the narrator, who thinks she is kind of a failure in life meets "a girls from another world" who thinks the waitress is a princess needing deliverance. They live together a while, then part, & finally meet again.

I could see the waitress wants better life, & is perhaps fantasizing easy deliverance. But the story just left me bewildered.
