Vera Nazarian's "The Story of Love" (short story, non-genre): Father/daughter estrangement, & finally patch up

Readable but otherwise ordinary story of Nahad Eri-Devi - a rich man who has never made any friends, & has always grossly abused his family - including the rather harsh physical beatings of daughter Crea till she's married.

Story is told from the point of view of Crea. Eventually, there is a patch up of father & daughter - when father is old, helpless, & lonely.

Strong points of the story are beautiful language, & exotic environment - Middle East in medieval times. But you've probably already read a dozen stories set in that environment.
