George H Smith's "Benefactor" (flash fiction, humor, free)

Jacob Clark, a sort of super-Edison, has invented robots & a time machine, among other things. Because his robots have been displacing jobs, a lot of people are unhappy. To escape a mob of anti-robot rioters, he travels 20 years into future. Only he got seriously hurt by a hurled brick, & ended up setting the machine to 1000 years in future.

This is a robot future, all humanity died out half a millennium back in a war. And they revere their Creator, Jacob Clark of the legend. So when they find Clarke unconscious & bleeding at the Shrine, they take very loving care of him - in their own way...
