BSFA Awards 2011: Short fiction

Main post.

I've now read all the 5 stories. While I personally find all of them minor, one story - Nina Allan's "The Silver Wind" (download) - might have considerably more appeal for British readers because it references many apparently current political issues, & later parts of the story are set in an alternate London in a parallel universe - a London that appears to be author's idea of a utopia - a London free of racial prejudices.
