Robert Reed's "Roxie": Only for dog owners

If you are into living with dogs, this story might appeal; it's about the joys & sorrows of living with a pet dog. Title is the name of the she dog.

Since I am not into it, it was a waste of time for me.

sf bit is provided by a very tiny background subplot of the impending doom - in a year or two in future, a comet is going to ram into earth, & no one around has a clue to what to do about it.
