More on Spielberg's "E.T." & Satyajit Ray

More details on the subject are available at Wikipedia. Ray was making "The Alien" based on his script with Columbia Pictures when the script got copyrighted by someone else!

Steven Speilberg's movie "E.T." was based on a story by Satyajit Ray?

"Speilberg's ET was actually based on a story by Satyajit Ray. The story was called 'Banku Babur Bandhu'."

I personally haven't read the story by Ray. But at least 2 Indian sf authors seem to think so. Cyril Gupta made above remark at indiansciencefiction Yahoo group on 27 December 2008; Arvind Mishra endorsed it on 28 December.

PS: Ray is a very well known Bengali movie director & story teller.
