If you are wondering why there hasn't been a post last few days...

It's because I've been running into too many stories not worth writing about. I now have about half dozen posts lined up for this week. They should begin appearing either late tonight or tomorrow night.

A few more changes that should be apparent within a fortnight:

  1. When I started this site, I had some idea of what is "hard sf" - which is what this site was supposed to be about. I began liking sf humor & started adding that too. But the generic sf that is now called "speculative fiction" includes a lot of genres I don't care about - magic & ghosts, among them.

While it appears impossible to avoid magic or non-genre when looking for new stories (unless you stick to Analog magazine), I will no longer be dedicating a full post to such stories - except on rare occasions when it is something really exceptional.

Main posts will henceforth be mostly about science fiction stories, & sometimes magazine or anthology summaries. At least I will try this over next couple of months - let's see how it works out.

This will certainly mean fewer posts, since supposedly genre magazines & anthologies are full of non-science-fiction works mixed with science fiction.
  2. All story posts - existing & new - as well as various lists will get one of the 4 genre classification tags: "hard sf", "sf", "fantasy", & "non-genre". sf means "science fiction", not "speculative fiction". "hard sf" & "sf" tags still remain somewhat arbitrary, but at least you should not have major disappointment when looking only for these kinds of stories.
Thanks for reading so far.
