Story summary.

In far future, human mistakes have turned the surface of earth radioactive & uninhabitable. All animals & birds are dead. Humans live underground, in habitats called the "Pits". And the rulers of this world are robots, not humans. So much time has passed that those living in Pits don't even think of throwing out their robotic overlords.

But, to rebel is human! A few brave men begin the revolution. They escape from habitat through a long disused door to discover the dead planetary surface. But they are weak from long disuse of body & mind, & on a hostile world. How will they fight the mighty robots?

Somewhere along the evolution, humans must have acquired telepathic ability. For, these escapees will telepathically become parasites in long past - in the year 1967! They begin to take control of the minds of men of this far past, as parasites, to kill off the machines while machines are still in their infancy - so the future machine-dystopia can be averted!
