** Theodore Sturgeon's "Microcosmic God" (novelette, science fiction)

A genius inventor has concluded that even the most prolific inventors rely on slowly gathered insights of many men. To speed up progress, he's created a fast evolving new life form - far far smarter than humans in that they can solve impossible problems that will take humans forever, & for the moment they are contained in a closed habitat in an island. But who can say how long they will remain there? What will mankind do when they decide to come out?
