Some online fiction

Henry Kuttner & C L Moore's novel "Fury" is available for online reading (but not free download) at WOWIO. This is a novelization of their shorter work, "Clash by Night". I've not read the novel version.

Free SF Reader links two well known stories: Harlan Ellison's "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream" (download), & James Tiptree, Jr's "Love is the Plan, and the Plan is Death" (download) - both originally from SciFiction classics reprints.

Ellison's is an extremely dark story of an AI run berserk, & features in Contento's Top 10 Most Reprinted Stories. Not a great story in my book, but then I don't really have a taste for horror.

I haven't read the Tiptree story. It's a Nebula winner & a Hugo nominee.

SF Signal links Ayn Rand's "Anthem" at Project Gutenberg. It's not really science fiction, but it blew me away when I first read it - at a younger age. Description of a communist dystopia. It's the first of the 4 major works of Rand - increasing in thickness, scope & maturity in later books but all generally on the same central idea. This is the thinnest of the lot & a rather quick read.
