Fred Hoyle's "Ossian's Ride" (novel, espionage): Adventures of an English spy in Ireland
Ireland is suddenly the world's most technologically advanced country, thanks to major advances in basic sciences that have obviously suddenly become available to it. And they're making the world even more curious by putting up a very heavy security cordon around their crown jewel - the "Industrial Corporation of Eire" (ICE).
So a curious English government sends a spy...
While I wasn't bored, it's not a book that could not be put down either. And some of the humor will probably be better accessible to British readers.
Rating: B.
