- * Robert Charles Wilson's "Julian : A Christmas Story": (A): A medieval society follows the exhaustion of earth's oil resources.
- * Paolo Bacigalupi's "Yellow Card Man" (B), Asimov's Dec 2006: Man becomes beast. A refugee story, & of a loser. But by & large, quite realistic.
