John Schoffstall's "Bullet Dance": An unconventional way to cope with gunmen

This very lovely fantasy proposes a fantastic solution to coping with the gunman's bullets. I didn't quite like the end, but rest of it was enchanting.

Story summary.
Clio is a 7 year old girl, daughter of the US Ambassador to Egypt, & lives with her dad at embassy quarters in Cairo. She keeps getting visited by ghosts - Shi & Morir. They tell her she is destined to face bullets in her life; so they are going to prepare her to face it.

They teach her the bullet dance - a kind of acrobatics that depends on very keen perception of those around & of a potential gunman's body language - to jump out of the way of bullets! They initially train her with slow ghost bullets, then faster ones, then normal ones, until finally she is competent enough easily avoid machine gun fire!

She will eventually face gunmen at age 15, & will be saved by these tricks.
