E G von Wald's "Fair and Warmer" (short story, free): Where intellectual curiosity is a disease!

In some ways, this is a van Vogt style story. Not as much impact, but an interesting read. And a funny one too.

Story summary.

There are now may be 30 or 100 "humans" in the world - no one has counted for centuries. These are immortals, telepathic, have telekinetic abilities, can manufacture drugs in their body at will, ... And have a curious social system where "administrators" are morons compared to mere citizens! This is a contented society, where curiosity is considered a disease!

A while back, some aliens arrived on the world, & are now camping somewhere. One man, Tensor, however, is feeling curious about them - an alarming situation, this curiosity, according to his doctor! Finally doctor prescribes an untried medication - go satisfy your curiosity, & we get to learn something about the aliens...
